Department: Holland School of Sciences&Mathematics Supervisor Title: Associate Dean of HSSM; Professor of Biology LSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Abilene Target Hire Date: As Soon As Possible Contact Information: Dr. Craig Younce at As a Chemistry department student worker you will have the unique opportunity to interact with faculty one on one, help other students develop the same passion you have for science, and continue to refresh your science principles. In addition, you will gain important skills such as working behind the scenes or in a lab and learning time management as you balance work and school. All these tools will make you a valuable asset to future employers. We are here to assist you with questions and to help you succeed in the important roles you will serve in our department.Organic Chemistry/General chemistry Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Chemistry Laboratory Teaching Assistant: Dispose of and clean up lab materials correctly Able to work with chemicals Maintain and operate lab equipment Attend and assist students during lab Keep lab clean and organized Set up and tear down organic chemistry labs weekly Chemistry Prep Assistant:Dispose of and clean up lab materials correctly Able to work with chemicals Maintain and operate lab equipment Keep lab clean and organized Inventory all items for replacement (gloves, soap, paper towels chemicals used in labs) Must obtain and set up all items for labs from professors before lab meeting time. This may require mixing solutions prior to lab.Set up lab practical materials if applicable Chemistry Grader: Grades tests, quizzes, lab notebooks, and any other assignments the professor assigns (rubric will be provided) Grader must grade with non-biased and confidential integrity (FERPA) Education/Experience:
Must have completed general chemistry with a grade B or better Physical Requirements:
Able to work with chemicals Able to stand for long periods of time Must be able to lift 10 pounds Non-Discrimination Statement:
