Job Description
This Skilled Laborer role supports a variety of construction and concrete production activities, including general labor, machine operation support, and heavy lifting.
You will work as part of a team to assist with precast concrete pipe and structure production, perform site and facility clean-up, and handle hand and power tools safely and efficiently.
Responsibilities
Perform general construction labor tasks, including site preparation, material handling, and clean-up.
Assist with concrete work, such as preparing, pouring, and finishing concrete for precast structures.
Support machine operators during the production process by supplying materials, monitoring equipment, and following instructions.
Operate basic machinery and equipment as directed, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
Use hand and power tools, such as hammers, saws, drills, and grinders, to complete assigned tasks.
Read and use tape measures accurately to cut and measure materials.
Perform heavy lifting and manual material handling throughout the shift.
Assist with carpentry-related tasks as needed, including basic formwork and framing for concrete.
Contribute to landscaping or grounds-related duties when required, such as site clean-up and maintenance.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, including sweeping, debris removal, and general housekeeping.
Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
Essential Skills
Experience in construction labor, including general labor and site work.
Hands-on experience with concrete work, such as mixing, pouring, and handling concrete materials.
Ability to perform heavy lifting and physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
Proficiency using hand tools, including hammers, wrenches, and basic carpentry tools.
Proficiency using power tools, including drills, saws, and grinders, in a safe manner.
Ability to accurately read and use a tape measure for cutting and measuring materials.
Experience in carpentry or basic carpentry skills relevant to construction and concrete formwork.
Experience in general labor environments such as construction, concrete, or landscaping.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience assisting machine operators in a production or manufacturing setting.
Experience with landscaping tasks related to construction sites or facility grounds.
Familiarity with precast concrete products or similar industrial construction materials.
Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn new skills within the construction industry.
Interest in long-term career growth into supervisory roles or heavy equipment operation.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ashland, VA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $***** - $*****/hr.
