Job Overview

The Manufacturing Quality Technician is responsible for supporting quality assurance and manufacturing processes to ensure aerospace components meet stringent regulatory, customer, and engineering requirements. This role plays a critical part in inspection, validation, documentation, and continuous improvement activities to maintain compliance with AS9100 standards and customer specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform in-process and final inspections of aerospace components using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, CMM, height gauges, etc.).

Review and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and work instructions.

Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements.

Document inspection results and maintain accurate records in quality systems.

Identify nonconformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions (RCCA).

Generate and process Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and participate in MRB (Material Review Board) activities.

Support internal audits and compliance efforts for AS9100 and customer requirements.

Assist manufacturing teams with process verification and quality improvement initiatives.

Verify compliance of materials, processes, and finished products to specifications.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and suppliers to resolve quality issues.

Ensure proper calibration and use of inspection equipment per standards.

What your background should look like

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED (Associate degree or technical certification preferred)

1 year of experience in manufacturing quality, preferably in aerospace or regulated industries

Strong understanding of:

Blueprint reading

GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning&Tolerancing)

Inspection techniques and tools

Experience with quality management systems such as AS9100 or ISO 9001

Familiarity with First Article Inspection (FAI) requirements (AS9102)

Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MES systems)

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification such as:

ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT)

ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)

Experience using Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and inspection software

Knowledge of root cause methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.)

Experience in precision machining, composites, or aerospace assembly environments
