A leading manufacturing firm in Akron, Ohio to recruit a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor.This role is ideal for a technical leader with a strong background in injection molding, hydraulics, and industrial electrical systems. You will lead a skilled team of maintenance technicians, oversee facility compliance, and drive an aggressive Preventative Maintenance (PM) program
Responsibilities
Supervise and mentor a team of maintenance personnel covering routine mechanical repair, electrical troubleshooting, and hydraulics. Manage departmental scheduling, including daily shift assignments, overtime rotation, and vacation planning to ensure zero disruption to production schedules. Enforce company policies and handle employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary matters in strict accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).Execute and optimize the facility's Preventative Maintenance (PM) plan using internal software (TCM system) to track historical data and parts inventory. Minimize production downtime by ensuring rapid response to machine breakdowns on the production floor. Oversee facility vendors managing external services including HVAC, roofing, snow removal, and groundskeeping.Act as the primary point contact for safety programs, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), forklift/lift truck safety, ladder safety, and hazard communications. Ensure full plant compliance with federal, state, and local regulations OSHA, EPA, ADA, fire, water/sewer codes, and local zoning). Manage emergency infrastructure, ensuring all fire protection systems, security alarms, and facility safety equipment are regularly inspected and operational.
Requirements
Associate Degree in Industrial Technology, Electrical Technology, or a related maintenance discipline (Equivalent hands-on supervisory experience will be considered). 5+ years of experience as a Maintenance Supervisor OR 5-7 years as a Lead Technician in an injection molding facility. Deep expertise in hydraulics, electrical diagnostics, PLCs, and injection molding machinery.Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/TCM). Prior experience working within a union environment/CBA framework is highly preferred. Must be authorized to work in the US. Position is Employment At-Will. Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.Daily use of industrial diagnostic tools (voltmeters, micrometers, laser measuring tools), facilities equipment (tow-motors, scissors lifts, overhead hoists), and safety PPE.
