Database Administrator - Senior, New York

Provide a short description of the Position: This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of all Oracle software that’s used by all New York State agencies. This position will apply Oracle patches as they are released by Oracle Corporation, to comply with IRS regulations and to address known software defects and vulnerabilities. This position will support all areas of Oracle, including software installation, upgrades, patching, and database troubleshooting.

Provide a list of the day to day tasks to be performed by the Selected Candidate:

Provide support for all Oracle Databases that are managed by ITS Enterprise database administration group: 1. Support all areas of Oracle, including software installation, upgrades, patching, and database troubleshooting in an IBM AIX environment with RAC, PowerHA, ASM, Data Guard, and Enterprise Manager. 2. Work during off hours, 4am-12pm, to perform software installs, upgrades and apply patches, as required. 3. Work independently to troubleshoot all aspects of Oracle software installation, upgrades, and patches. 4.Perform database migrations from legacy data centers. Work as part of a project team to support 450 servers, 2,500+ databases, and provide 7x24 support when required.
