Java Developer, Michigan

Job Description:

As a Senior Java Developer, you will contribute to the design and development of high-performance, multi-threaded, and resilient systems. Working in a collaborative and technically challenging environment, your work will directly impact the experience of trading clients by delivering robust, scalable solutions that empower users.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain distributed, low-latency trading applications

Work with Java, Oracle, Linux, Spring, networking, and messaging technologies

Contribute to the full software development lifecycle in an Agile environment

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement technical solutions

Ensure code quality through testing, code reviews, and adherence to standards

Actively participate in planning, implementation, release, and post-release support

Provide mentorship and leadership within a fast-paced development team

Continuously explore innovative solutions and new technologies

Required Skills, Experiences, Education, and Competencies:

6+ years of professional experience in Java software development

6+ years working in Agile environments on complex, multi-dependency projects

Strong hands-on experience with scalable, low-latency systems

Proficiency in Java, Spring, Oracle, Linux, networking, messaging, and multi-threading

Experience with real-time trading software is a strong plus

Deep understanding of IT/software technology trends and performance optimization

Familiarity with Atlassian or Microsoft development toolsets

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field

Strong analytical and organizational skills

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Ability to work independently and lead within distributed teams across multiple time zones

 

The hourly range for roles of this nature are $40.00 to $80.00/hr. Rates are heavily dependent on skills, experience, location, and industry.
