R&D Lab Technician, Ann Arbor

R&D Lab Technician Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI) is seeking an experienced technician to join the Test/GA (General Affairs) Team of the Structures Engineering Design Department The Position: The R&D Lab Technician would support engineering design teams with disassembling and benchmarking existing products, fabricating prototype components, and executing various tests What You Will Do: Set up and conduct performance-related tests on components concerning interior, exterior, chassis, frame, and BIW (body-in-white) systems. Then, analyze test results against specifications and prepare technical reports for engineering design teams to review.Execute teardown and benchmark activities concerning competitor vehicles and subsystems Build, assemble, and modify experimental components Create custom test fixtures to facilitate testing efforts Diagnose mechanical or electrical failures in prototypes and recommend countermeasures Calibrate and maintain specialized laboratory equipment and shop machinery to ensure safe and accurate operation

What You Will Bring to the Role: Associate's degree in automotive or industrial technology ASE certification 3+ years of professional experience operating and testing the following systems: interior, exterior, chassis, frame, and BIW An ability to read blueprints and schematics Strong vehicle diagnostic skillsAn ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non-technical stakeholders Adept in Microsoft programs, such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word An ability to prepare reports/spreadsheets (when needed) to support project-related work

Excellent time management, self-management, and organization skills Strong written, oral, and interpersonal skills
