Our client is seeking an experienced Interim Controller to support their accounting operations during a transitional period. This is a very hands-on role ideal for an accounting professional who is detail-oriented, polished, and comfortable managing the day-to-day accounting functions while overseeing a Bookkeeper. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, organized, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Interim Controller Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting operations, including supervision of the Bookkeeper

The Interim Controller will manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash application processes

Perform bank and credit card reconciliations

Maintain the general ledger and prepare journal entries

The Interim Controller will manage fixed asset tracking and prepaid/amortization schedules

Process payroll and assist with sales tax filings

Support month-end close activities, accruals, and financial reporting preparation

Handle vendor management and collections activities

The Interim Controller will maintain accounting systems and ensure accuracy of financial records

Assist with audit preparation and related documentation

Qualifications of the Interim Controller Role

Previous experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting role

Strong understanding of full-cycle accounting processes

Experience managing or overseeing accounting staff

QuickBooks Online experience required

Basic Excel skills required

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Professional communication and presentation skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently
