Healthcare economics analysts are responsible for analyzing large datasets, such as claims and electronic health records, to identify patterns and trends in healthcare costs and utilization. This involves researching business problems quantitatively and using reporting tools to assess health plan performance and medical expense trends. They also develop models and reports, including building datasets for analyzing medical cost trends, creating statistical models and financial reports, and developing repeatable Excel models and self-service dashboards. Providing medical and pharmacy financial and utilization reports and presenting findings to leadership are also key responsibilities. Collaboration is essential, as analysts work with various departments like finance, network pricing, and clinical teams. They collaborate with partners to support decision making and provide clear presentations of their analysis. Furthermore, they focus on problem-solving and strategic initiatives by interpreting drivers of healthcare trends, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, developing analyses for strategic initiatives, and communicating findings to management.

HOURS:

Full Time or 1.0 FTE, 80 hours every pay period - day shift

Experience/Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required in economics, health economics, actuarial science or related quantitative discipline. 3-5+ years of programming experience in a professional and / or education setting. Programing experience in either SQL, Python, or R beginning or intermediate level. Experience with data reporting and analysis. Research and analyze financial data to draw conclusions and provide consultation to internal and external partners for use in administering specific programs and processes related to medical expense and utilization.Proven excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proven intermediate Excel skills. List any required credentials, including governing body. Outlining if it is required upon hire, or within a certain time frame also if it is to be continuously maintained. (Ex. - licensure required upon hire and continuously maintained by employee.)(For required resuscitation credentials please use the following verbiage&update required licensure) Current BLS/ACLS/PALS/NRP Certification or obtained within 90 days of hire (See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Training Policy).
