Position Overview This is a part-time position. Our Educational Assistants monitor students as they go about the class routine and complete their assigned work. Staff members in this position are responsible for maintaining a professional study environment and ensuring that all students are comfortable and continue working throughout their time at the center. Marking is a very large part of this position and our staff is expected to be able to mark with the assistance of an answer key both efficiently and accurately.Responsibilities· Ensuring students are on task and following the class routine, and helping—appropriately—if needed· Providing the Instructor with detailed observations of how students are working, and of work that seems to be too easy/ difficult· Providing orientation for new students on their first-class day and following up on their second class day (longer if necessary), including Early Learner students as they transition into the main class area· Maintaining a positive and professional study environment by encouraging students to whisper, cleaning up the classroom, and generally keeping students on task· Marking Math and Reading work efficiently, swiftly, and accurately Requirements· Professionalism· Patience· A positive attitude· Availability during class times Monday and Thursday afternoons· Must enjoy working with children· Ability to multitask· Willingness to undergo training and a desire to further develop one’s skills Preferred Skills and Experience· Experience working with young children and/or in a leadership position· Working towards a career in the education field· High aspirations Available year-round (including summers) Company Description Kumon’s after-school academic enrichment program has helped children achieve success worldwide.
