Toolmaker, Fletcher

As a Toolmaker you will work with minimal supervision and assistance to machine complex parts to engineering drawings, sketches, or other documentation, including verbal instruction, and using metal working equipment. You should also be able to conceive, design and build fixtures, tooling and procedures for fabrication operations of parts being made. On occasion tasks assigned may be considered production runs. You will be expected to be able to perform setups and choose tooling independently.

Essential Functions

Machine complex parts to engineering drawings or other documentation with minimal supervision. Evaluate task and determine most efficient sequence of operations and tooling taking into consideration material type, quantity required, plating requirements, tolerance requirements and other factors. Perform accurate layouts and transfers of hole patterns.Be able to setup and operate metal working machinery such as Proto Trak's, Bridgeport millers, lathes, drill presses and grinders. Measure parts being fabricated using scales, protractors, micrometers, calipers, indicators, or other measurement devices. Fabricate acceptable parts in a timely manner.Submit parts to Inspection. Run CNC equipment. Monitor part quality and submit samples to Inspection during production runs. Communicate problems to your manager or Lead in a timely manner. Work assigned may be in other departments on occasion. Work as a team to maximize productivity and quality.Provide assistance to others. Show a constant interest in learning other activities or skills. Participate in job reviews when appropriate. Maintain and submit accurate time records, both on drawings and in the ERP system. Maintain fabrication equipment in good order and use tools and equipment as designed.Clean equipment when breaking down setup. Maintain orderly work area and cleanup work area at the end of the day. Be consistently at work and punctual; clock job times accurately. Participate in continuous improvement efforts. Observe company policy, safety, and security procedures. Perform all activities in conformance with the AGR Quality System and ISO procedures.Requirements

Ability to setup and operate metal working equipment including drill presses, millers, lathes, and sheet metal equipment without assistance. Ability to select and use appropriate measuring devices for the task being monitored. Ability to fabricate parts to + / - .0005 of an inch with a goal to be able to machine parts to +\- .0002Responsible for monitoring quality of part during fabrication stages Ability to work with hand tools. Ability to apply manufacturing software to fabricate parts based on geometry of part. Ability to interpret engineering drawings or other documentation and to work to verbal instructions. Ability to work well with others in a team environment.Utilize most efficient resources for fabricating and measuring parts being made or altered. Be able to perform shop math, including Trigonometry functions, so parts are made and checked to specifications. Work Environment

Routinely exposed to moving mechanical parts. Little risk of electrical shock. Moderate noise level. Physical Demands

Regularly required to use hands for a variety of tasks. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Ability to walk, stand and sit, occasionally to climb, balance, stoop, kneel. Frequently lift 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Good vision and eye / hand coordination.Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent Completion of a Tool Maker or Machinist Apprenticeship

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and typical work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Overtime is on an as needed basis and at the direction of your manager.
