Samples water in plant and conducts and interprets biological experiments to support development programs for bioburden and endotoxin testing. Ships samples out to contract labs for testing and/or microbiological identification. Provides biological scientific support to manufacturing and product development. Essential functions include performing environmental monitoring and lab assays, conducting biological indicator, growth promotion, endotoxin, and bioburden testing, and sending samples out for microbial identifications. Records information obtained in experiments according to established procedure. Facilitates procedures so that records and raw data are properly retained. Summarizes and interprets data. Keeps abreast of current scientific developments relative to project areas. Attends in house training and department meetings. Prepares technical reports and other documents that record data or results. Assists lead microbiologist in the preparation of reports. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, ensures its proper operation; operates analytical and other instruments. Operating in accordance with current GMPs. This includes the ability to understand and apply SOPs and use GMPs for documenting, testing and maintaining accurate laboratory records. Support the Instrument Lifecycle Management Process. Support the Software Lifecycle Management Process. Assisting in various other duties which contribute to the organization and function of the laboratory. Maintain up to date knowledge on the latest applicable laboratory techniques, advances and technology.Qualifications

Education, experience, training and skills: A Bachelor Degree in Biology or Microbiology is required. 0-2 years experience with Bachelor Degree performing progressively advanced duties at the Microbiologist 1 Level. Ability to work independently to perform testing with limited supervision. Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Must be able to interact well with peers and colleagues. Self-motivated.
