Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Swine Farm Manager in the Animal and Dairy Science Department (ADS) and ultimately to the Head of ADS. The principal duties of the position include, but are not limited to, 1) providing day-to-day operational support under the direction of the Swine Farm Manager and Sr. Farm Manager of swine operations. 2) direct involvement in feed preparation, facility maintenance and repairs. 3) equipment operation, maintenance and repair 4) working with faculty and farm staff to ensure that the research, teaching and extension missions are accomplished.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
Knowledge of livestock management, animal handling skills, and agronomic practices for growing and harvesting crops required for animal production. General knowledge in planting and harvesting forage and row crops. Ability to organize and prioritize work activities. Experience with equipment, fence repair, and constructionPhysical Demands
