Shift: 8am - 4:30pm, Monday - Friday, Hybrid (3 days in office, 2 days remote)
Emory Medical Laboratory's mission is to transform health and healing by providing high quality, cost-effective, innovative laboratory services which enhance patient health. We're seeking a certified Laboratory Technical Specialist I to join our team.
This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring in-office presence three days per week.
This position supports a broad range of Business Services billing functions, including maintaining procedures, fee schedules, and client databases, invoice and payment reconciliation, AR collections, and monthly financial reporting.
Responsibilities also include cost accounting, client contract management, grant tracking, and ensuring accuracy in system data and billing.
The role requires strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Epic, and other business tools.
The candidate will serve as a subject matter expert across multiple functional areas, collaborating cross-functionally to resolve issues, drive process improvements, and support strategic initiatives.
Duties include managing departmental emails, responding to client inquiries, leading or assisting in system upgrades and testing, and ensuring exceptional customer service.
The role will support staff, coordinate training, participate in quality improvement projects, and support revenue cycle operations.
This position requires flexibility, independence, and the ability to handle complex workflows in a fast-paced healthcare environment while contributing to both operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical lab science or a chemical, physical or biological science.
Other bachelor's degree will be accepted if graduated from an accredited school of medical technology or if science and math coursework meet requirement of certifying agency.
Education Exception: Bachelor's degree may be waived for a medical technologist who was ASCP certified in the years prior to the bachelor's degree requirement by ASCP and a HEW/HHS technologist certified by Health and Human Services. Bachelor's degree may be waived for histotechnologists with HT (ASCP) or HTL (ASCP).
Two years required with three years of related laboratory experience preferred.
Positions in this classification may require certification in a particular laboratory specialty.
