Electronic Security Control Technician

We are working with a leading provider of fire, security, and sprinkler systems solutions. They provide design, installation, and service to high quality data communications, video, sound, fire and security alarm systems within retail, healthcare, education, government, hospitality, and more.

Summary:

The Electronic Security Control Technician is responsible for installing, wiring, troubleshooting, programming, and maintaining low-voltage computer and network-based electronic systems, including fire, security, card access, door entry, paging/sound, telecommunication, video, and other electronic systems as required.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Diagnoses equipment failures with computers, networks, and associated systems for the purpose of identifying needed repairs and/or ensuring equipment is in proper working order.

Install computer hardware, network switches, routers, peripherals, security equipment, cameras, application software, etc. for the purpose of providing a complete functional system tailored to a customer's needs and overall specific site parameters.

Troubleshoot and repair low voltage system building wiring.

Install, maintain, configure, troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software and network related problems associated with Microsoft and Linux based operating systems.

Work with clients' IT departments to interface computer-based solutions

Interface with vendors and manufacturer's representatives to resolve operating systems issues.

Analyze bugs in system and application software: research and test possible solutions; implement solutions.

Write scripts, files, and programs utilizing numerous application programs to enhance, and provide proper end user results as required for a completely functional system.

Education and Experience:

Minimum of AA degree in electronics, computer sciences or equivalent technical school supplemented with 3-5 years of related industry experience.

3-5 years of related industry experience.

COMPTIA A+ certification.

Network+ certification.

SQL certification.

COMPTIA Linux + or equivalent certification.

Microsoft (MCP) Microsoft Certified Professional).

Windows Server certification.

LINUX certifications.

Cisco certification.

Valid driver's license.

Able to obtain Maryland and Virginia security technician licenses as required.

Physical Requirements:

Physically able to climb overhead or crawl under spaces to complete jobs.

Must be willing to work at heights.

Must be able to operate electrical tools.

Must be able to differentiate color coding of cables.

Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
