Position Summary
Thales requires an Engineering Application Support Specialist to provide technical support related to Engineering applications and the environment they are hosted in, from an infrastructure, installation/configuration, customization, and administrative user support role. Responsible for maintenance of the environment (i.e. hardware upgrades, server patches, application updates/upgrades), responding to configuration and customization needs of the engineering users, and providing administrative functions and end user support to the engineering community.
Regulatory Compliance Requirement
This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List and/or the US the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Maintain inventory/stock of current environment, including hardware, applications/patches, users, and licenses.
- Work with IS/IT in determining infrastructure and security requirements for engineering environment and associated applications/tools.
- Perform installation and configuration for new applications, and as required when upgrading applications.
- Work with engineers on determining requirements for tools, and perform customizations as required.
- Set up security certificates for applications as required.
- Administer roles, user/group management, security/access for applications.
- Provide end-user support for application level requests.
- Participate in corporate/group level engineering forums/working groups to understand future roadmaps into Engineering applications, and to communicate/advocate for TCDS needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- 1+ years experience in dealing with IS/IT or Engineering level applications, from either an end user or administrator’s point of view (preferred).
- Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Computer Tech, or Engineering related discipline.
- Proven problem solving and analytic skills with a desire to learn.
- Proven organizational skills and ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Capable of developing strong relationships across the business through excellent customer service.
- Excellent communication skills in the English language, written and verbal.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with the following applications is preferred, but not required: Jira, Confluence, Gitlab CI, Windchill (or alternative PLM tool), SharePoint, Nexus/Artifactory, SonarQube, Polario.
- Understanding of IS/IT infrastructure (networking, security, hardware, etc.).
- Proficiency in Linux Administration.
- Basic scripting (Powershell, Python, etc.).
- Active Directory knowledge or experiencee is an asset.
- Comprehension of containerization (i.e. Docker).

Schedule: Regular Work hours
Physical Environment: Minimum 3 days/week in office
Travel: Minimal
