General Summary
The Natural Resource Tech II performs professional work within the Natural Resource Division including daily operations and maintenance of primitive and nature hiking trails. Specialized experience in specific field of hire (Tree care and trail maintenance) Mechanical aptitude. Ability to operate maintenance equipment and motorized vehicles. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and writing in the English Language Ability to work independently and communicate problems to direct supervisor.Ability to adjust to changing work demands, procedures, technology, and/or priorities Ability to perform manual and skilled labor in various weather conditions Ability to lift up to 100 lbs., occasionally Ability to follow simple oral&written instructions Ability to develop and maintain effective working relations with others Ability to operate a BREC Vehicle and off-road vehicle to perform essential functions of the job. Functions and Duties
Essential Functions and Duties :• Conducts trail maintenance operations at multiple locations around the parish. • Carries out maintenance procedures on equipment • Operates variety of trail maintenance equipment including but not limited to; chainsaws, brushcutters, blowers, UTV, 4-wheeler and bobcat.• Documents daily activities through photo record and reports daily operations to supervisor. • Assists NR Trails Foreman with construction projects of trails, amenities, and signage as needed. • Assists NR Trails Foreman in directing and managing volunteers as needed. • Drives trucks andtrailers with loaded equipment from site to site.• Assists with Natural Resource Management activities such as planting, weeding, pesticide application, invasive species removal, surveying, etc. • Cut/haul tree limbs, trees, and vegetation as needed
Secondary Job Duties:• Assumes other tasks as assigned by the NR Trails Foreman and Assistant Director of Natural Resource Management.

Lincoln Financial . Coverage is subject to reduction at ages 65 and 70. There is no cost to the employee; however, coverage associated with salaries exceeding $50,000 is subject to imputed income in accordance with IRS regulations. Coverage is effective immediately upon eligibility.
RETIREMENT SYSTEM:
BREC contributes 38.22% of each employee's salary to the City-Parish Employees' Retirement System. Employees contribute 9.5% of salary. All retirement contributions are tax-deferred. Employee contributions are maintained in individual accounts and are refunded if an employee leaves BREC prior to retirement eligibility. After 25 years of service, employees may be eligible for additional benefits through the Deferred Retirement Option Plan (DROP). BREC also offers a Supplemental Retirement Deferred Compensation Plan through Nationwide Retirement Solutions, available through convenient payroll deductions.HOLIDAYS : BREC employees receive twelve (12) paid holidays per year.
SICK LEAVE : BREC employees accumulate sick leave at the rate of 100 hours per year the first five years they are employed; accrual of hours will increase based on the number of years of service, thereafter, up to 192 hours for 15 or more years.
