Job Description:
Beckman Scholars will participate in distinctive BSP activities, while assimilating into the larger framework for undergraduate researchers at LSU. The distinguishing features of the BSP are individualized mentoring, scientific leadership incorporating JEDI principles, and well-honed science communication skills. All participants will generate an individual development plan (IDP), participate in an in-depth research experience spanning 15 months on a project supervised by the faculty mentor. During the summers, Scholars will participate in the coordinated Summer REU Program that includes access to research centers, research and development seminars presented by nationally renowned scientists, and social forums. During the academic year, the students will be part of the LSU Discover program, attending workshops selected according to their IDP. Scholars will participate in monthly LSU BSP meetings that draw upon the SCI Lead Leadership Learning Laboratory as a regular touch point. The Beckman Scholars will be highlighted as keynote speakers with research presentations during LSU Discover Day.
