Structural Metals Field Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire Compensation: Starting at $32.00/hour (based on experience and qualifications) Additional Benefits: Company vehicle and fuel card provided Service Area: Candidates should reside near Georgetown, DE; Sterling, VA; Baltimore, MD; or Washington, DC Position OverviewA growing field operations team is seeking an experienced Structural Metals Field Superintendent to oversee installation crews working on structural and miscellaneous metals projects. This role is responsible for coordinating day-to-day site activities, maintaining safety and quality standards, and ensuring projects are completed efficiently and on schedule.Projects may include installation of stairs, railings, platforms, structural supports, and other fabricated metal assemblies across multiple job sites. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong field experience, blueprint interpretation skills, and the ability to coordinate effectively with contractors, crews, and project stakeholders.Primary Responsibilities Field Supervision&Crew Coordination
Lead and supervise installation crews performing structural and miscellaneous metals work Coordinate daily job site operations with general contractors, subcontractors, and other trades Assign labor, materials, and equipment resources based on project needs and schedules Support crews with layout verification, alignment, and installation guidance as neededInstallation Oversight&Quality Control
Review project drawings, blueprints, and layout details prior to and during installation activities Ensure installations comply with project specifications, quality expectations, and production timelines Verify field measurements, material placement, and alignment accuracy Monitor workflow and address field challenges to maintain project progressSafety&Compliance
Serve as the primary field contact for safety coordination and enforcement Ensure compliance with PPE requirements and job site safety procedures Conduct safety meetings and reinforce safe work practices across crews Verify team certifications, qualifications, and adherence to company and site standardsReporting&Equipment Oversight
Complete daily job reports, inspection logs, and vehicle documentation Monitor company tools, equipment, and vehicles to ensure proper operation and condition Provide project updates regarding schedule status, field conditions, and operational concerns Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience working with structural steel or miscellaneous metals installations preferredPrevious experience supervising field crews or leading installation teams strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and safety documentation Strong math and layout skills, including measurements, angles, and field calculations Working knowledge of AWS D1.1 standards and welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAWCurrent welding certifications or ability to successfully complete a weld test What We Offer Competitive hourly compensation based on experience and technical background Company-provided vehicle and fuel card Direct hire opportunity with long-term stability and advancement potential Hands-on leadership role supporting a variety of structural and miscellaneous metal projectsWhy Consider This Opportunity?
