Cyber Security/Cyber Defense Professor Job Description

The position serves as a cyber security/cyber defense professor at the William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies (WJPC) at the rank of Professor of Practice. The incumbent is a subject matter expert in cyber security policy and should have additional expertise in one or more of the following areas: national security, defense governance, territorial security, maritime security, transnational and asymmetric threats, defense sector governance, international law, law enforcement, international relations, acquisition, defense economics, financial management, logistics, international peacekeeping and stability operations, and counter-terrorism.Major duties include: Developing, organizing, and teaching the curriculum in area(s) of expertise for the Center's various programs, especially related to the Western Hemisphere. Participating in individual and team instructional activities. Teaching appropriate elements of the curriculum, often team teaching and using virtual learning.Participating in the planning and development of the Center's overall program of study, including curriculum-related workshops, and serving as project leader responsible for the development and management of academic activities. Developing opportunities for outreach activities with cooperating institutions from the United States and from the Western Hemisphere.Developing academic studies and analysis in thematic areas directly related to the Center's missions. Assisting in the organization of courses, seminars, workshops, and conferences in the region. Maintaining professional relationships with senior civilian and military academics, policy makers, and other professionals in the field and maintaining active research and publication programs related to curriculum interests.Serving as a research advisor to fellows from the region or other faculty members. Serving as a subject matter expert in collaborative initiatives within the Center and with other institutions. Participating in the formulation and execution of simulation exercises designed to reinforce mastery of learning objectives of the Perry Center academic program.Performing other duties as assigned.
