In the Physical / Occupational Therapist Aide role, you will play a key role in assisting all therapists in the Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy (POST) departments with a focus on preparing patients and equipment, maintaining cleanliness of the outpatient area and performing routine clerical tasks.What you will be doing: Assumes responsibility for timely patient care, prepares patients for treatment, and assists with taking patients off modalities. Assists therapists when needed with outpatient/inpatient treatments under direct supervision. Works under the direct clinical direction of the therapists and makes judgements to ensure patient's safety.Participates in communication with patient/family member, staff from other disciplines, and staff within the department. Maintains POST work area in a clean, orderly and well-stocked fashion. Performs clerical tasks and assists in reception duties as needed. Assists in the accurate documentation of patient information when assisting with DME products.Possess knowledge of Continuous Quality Improvement principles and supports POST philosophy of performance improvement. Participates on Quality Action Teams using the F.A.D.E. process. Must have demonstrated ability to interact positively with Administration, Directors, Managers, Supervisors, peers, co-workers, subordinates, patients and visitors.Must meet regular attendance standards and must stay at or below average sick leave utilization levels. Participates in in-services or continuing educational meetings concerning therapy services. Performs other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director. Understands and follows POST and hospital policies and procedures.Demonstrates knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs. What you will bring to the role: Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills consistent with Island Hospital's mission, vision, values, and Promise.Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary healthcare environment and build positive working relationships with physicians, clinicians, leaders, and staff.Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, service excellence, and compassionate communication with patients and families. Your Qualifications: Minimum of 1+ years of experience within a clinical or similar setting preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Previous experience in an outpatient rehab or acute care setting strongly preferred.
