Position Summary

The HR Generalist serves as a strategic and operational partner to site leadership and employees. This role supports a wide range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, compliance, performance management, employee engagement, leave administration, and policy interpretation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and leadership regarding HR policies, procedures, and workplace concerns.
  • Support recruitment efforts, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation activities.
  • Assist leaders with performance management, coaching, corrective action, and employee development.
  • Conduct employee relations investigations and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Support leave administration, accommodations, and return-to-work processes.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Maintain employee records and HR systems accurately and confidentially.
  • Assist with employee engagement, recognition, retention, and culture-building initiatives.
  • Analyze HR metrics and provide recommendations to improve workforce performance.
  • Partner with operations leadership to support staffing and workforce planning.
  • Participate in audits and compliance reviews as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HRIS systems.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
Preferred
  • Experience supporting warehouse, logistics, manufacturing, or distribution operations.
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification.
  • Experience supporting hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in an office and warehouse environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to conduct floor walks and engage with employees throughout the facility.
  • Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment regularly.
Work Environment

This position is based within a modern, climate-controlled warehouse facility. The employee may occasionally be exposed to warehouse equipment, including forklifts and material handling equipment, and must follow all safety policies and procedures.

About the Role

How you will contribute

  • Answer routine inquiries involving the collection, verification, and/or dissemination of human resources information on various topics such as disciplines, records, wages, absences, hiring, and policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the recruitment process by reviewing resumes, posting jobs, interviewing candidates, conducting orientation and training, completing new hire paperwork and communications to the staff.
  • Conduct new hire (safety) orientation for new employees, risk assessments and ongoing (safety) training. 
  • Assist with payroll and payroll related records. Update and maintain employee information. Update and maintain HRIS systems.
  • Maintain and gather information for and assists with the preparation of reports.
  • Work with the Employee Representatives (Worker’s Counsel and/or Union) to resolve issues and grievances based on a good understanding of the Collective Agreement (if applicable).
  • Ensure all employees are properly enrolled for benefits, and any changes are updated regularly.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, occupational illnesses and work refusals to determine causes and implement preventative measures to reduce or eliminate hazards.
  • Maintain seniority lists and all other reports and data.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Your Key Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, labor relations, or business or a field related to the position.
  • Experience in performing professional level human resources, payroll, customer service, or general office duties in a logistics, manufacturing or related field.
  • Additional education, training and/or work experience in area of specialization inherent to the position may be required.
  • Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office products and HRIS systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures used in human resources.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local laws, rules, and/or regulations affecting human resources administration; ability to develop a broad knowledge of those of the company.
