Job Description
This role focuses on performing comprehensive maintenance activities for plant equipment and facility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production operations.
You will conduct inspections, troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues, support preventive maintenance routines, and collaborate closely with production teams and vendors to minimize downtime and maintain high quality standards.
Responsibilities
Participate in all aspects of maintenance, including routine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and major equipment overhauls under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Survey production processes on a regular basis and follow daily, monthly, and annual maintenance routines for major equipment to prevent unplanned downtime.
Respond quickly to equipment failures by performing detailed inspections, identifying root causes, and determining appropriate corrective actions.
Repair plant equipment, including production machines, fixtures, tooling, and facility-related systems, to restore safe and reliable operation.
Perform teardown and restoration of large CNC cells, ensuring accurate reassembly and proper functioning after maintenance activities.
Maintain and repair conveyor systems and hydraulic assembly equipment, focusing on mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.
Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical drawings to diagnose issues and guide effective repairs.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and components, including PLC-controlled equipment, in a safe and methodical manner.
Fabricate, modify, and weld components as needed to support equipment repairs and improvements.
Complete detailed work orders, document maintenance activities, and maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, and parts used.
Coordinate and assist equipment vendors on-site, providing technical information and support to ensure effective service and repairs.
Package parts and components for shipment to external repair facilities, ensuring proper labeling, protection, and documentation.
Ensure all equipment is safe for employees to operate by inspecting, repairing, or replacing machine guards and addressing malfunctioning equipment.
Perform monthly safety checks and inspections to maintain compliance with internal safety programs and standards.
Support and uphold OSHA safety policies, including Control of Hazardous Energy procedures (Lockout/Tagout), during all maintenance activities.
Assist in training production employees on equipment operation, basic maintenance practices, and safety procedures.
Follow established quality policies and ISO/TS work instructions while performing maintenance and inspections.
Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges to inspect parts and verify compliance with specifications.
Operate a forklift as needed to move, position, and stage components, equipment, and materials safely.
Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders, both in person and over the phone, to resolve technical issues and coordinate maintenance work.
Support maintenance activities on other shifts and weekends as needed to meet production schedules and business demands.
Essential Skills
3+ years of experience in plant maintenance is preferred, with hands-on exposure to production equipment and facility systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Demonstrated experience with teardown and restoration of large CNC cells.
Experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems and hydraulic assembly equipment is highly desired.
Ability to interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and other technical drawings in a problem-solving context.
Proficiency in preventive maintenance practices, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacement.
Knowledge of OSHA safety policies and procedures, including Control of Hazardous Energy (Lockout/Tagout).
Ability to perform maintenance repair tasks safely and efficiently on a wide range of production machines and fixtures.
Experience with PLC troubleshooting at a basic to intermediate level.
Capability to use micrometers, calipers, and other precision gauges to inspect products and components.
Ability to communicate effectively on a technical level with vendors and internal teams, both verbally and in writing.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Ability to follow written work instructions and adhere to quality and safety procedures.
Visual acuity sufficient for detailed part inspection and accurate measurement.
Willingness and ability to work in a highly responsive manner to ensure production schedules are met.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Forklift license is preferred but not required; willingness to obtain certification if needed.
Experience working with large CNC cells, conveyor systems, and hydraulic assembly equipment in a manufacturing environment.
Familiarity with ISO/TS quality systems and related work instructions.
Ability to support maintenance activities on multiple shifts, including weekends, based on production needs.
Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-focused environment with frequent equipment changeovers and adjustments.
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills for completing work orders and maintenance records.
Capability to train and mentor others in safe equipment operation and basic maintenance practices.
Ability to lift and handle objects up to 50 lbs regularly and occasionally up to 60 lbs as part of normal duties.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing facility with high occupational noise exposure during most duties; hearing protection is provided and required at all times.
You will regularly encounter fumes and dust, and you must consistently use Personal Protective Equipment, including safety glasses and steel-toed industrial footwear.
The position involves physical activity, with repetitive reaching and lifting of objects up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
You will work around CNC cells, conveyor systems, hydraulic assembly equipment, and other production machinery, and may operate forklifts to move and position components.
Standard shifts include a 2nd shift from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and a 3rd shift from 11:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., Monday through Friday.
Overtime may be required on some Saturdays and, on rare occasions, Sundays, depending on production demands.
