What You’ll Do As an Assistant Teacher, you’ll support the Childcare Director and classroom team by: Assisting in planning and leading fun, age-appropriate activities and lessons Creating a safe, positive, and inclusive environment for all children Supervising children and ensuring proper staff-to-child ratios Building strong, respectful relationships with children and parents Communicating effectively with families about their child’s development Maintaining accurate program records and documentation Supporting program events, family nights, and YMCA initiatives Ensuring safety through proper supervision, transportation practices, and adherence to policies What We’re Looking For At least 18 years old Experience working with children ina developmental setting (preferred) Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment Strong problem-solving and communication skills Commitment to ongoing training and professional development Required within 90 days of hire (and maintained): CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications Alarm/Emergency Procedures training Why You’ll Love Working Here Make a meaningful impact in your community Supportive, mission-driven team environment Opportunities for professional growth and training Be part of a nationally recognized nonprofit organization Our Core Values in Action At the Y, we live our mission every day through: Youth Development – nurturing the potential of every child Healthy Living – improving individual and community well-being Social Responsibility – giving back and supporting our neighbors Physical&Work Environment This role requires the ability to stay active throughout the day, including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and engaging with children in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.
