Summary Valley County is seeking a highly organized, tech-savvy, and civic-minded professional to fill the role of
Administrative Assistant . This isn't a typical "desk job" - it is a vital position that sits at the intersection of local government, serving as the administrative engine for the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC), while providing critical technical support to both the Treasurer's and Clerk's offices.
This is a full-time position with full employee benefits.
Typical Duties&Responsibilities The successful candidate acts as a versatile liaison between the public and their government. Their primary responsibility is to ensure the Board of County Commissioners operates with transparency and efficiency. This individual manages the lifecycle of public meetings-from compiling complex agendas in compliance with Idaho Open Meeting Laws to mastering digital recording software for live-streaming and archiving official actions. They are the "right hand" to the Commissioners, managing calendars, drafting professional correspondence, and serving as a welcoming, informed first point of contact for constituent inquiries.
A Diverse Skill Set Beyond the boardroom, this role offers a unique opportunity to engage with the technical side of county operations: Financial Precision: Working with the County Treasurer during peak tax collection seasons, the Administrative Assistant performs essential bookkeeping, processes incoming payments, prepares bank deposits, maintains records in accordance with documented retention requirements, and performs other tasks related to special projects.Public Records&Services: Supporting the County Clerk/Recorder, they step in to facilitate essential life events for residents-issuing marriage licenses, processing passport applications, and managing alcohol permits and official recordings. Typical Qualifications Experience&Education Candidates must hold a High School Diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's preferred) and bring 3+ years of administrative experience, ideally within a government or legal environment. A functional background in general bookkeeping is essential to support the technical demands of the Treasurer's Office.
Technical&Communication Mastery The successful applicant will be a "multilingual" tech user, proficient in Microsoft Office, social media management, and the operation of audio/video equipment for public broadcasts. Exceptional professional writing and interpersonal skills are mandatory, as this role drafts official correspondence and serves as a primary point of contact for the public.
Adaptability&Character This role requires a proactive problem-solver who can pivot seamlessly between structured public meetings and the fluid daily needs of the Commissioners. Because the Assistant handles sensitive political and personnel information, a high degree of integrity, good judgment, and a consistent professional demeanor are non-negotiable.
When applying, please provide a resume or detailed work history that shows your relevant training and experience.
