External Description:
ModeX Therapeutics is seeking a motivated junior scientist with experience in molecular and cell biology. They will be part of a dynamic team focusing on developing innovative biotherapeutics for treating infectious diseases. The primary responsibilities of the position are to work with senior team members to make constructs, produce proteins, maintain cell lines, and perform biological assays. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a cross-functional team and contribute to the development of next-generation therapeutics.

 

Major responsibilities

Support molecular cloning of protein expression constructs including DNA silico analysis, codon optimization, gene fragment assembly, cloning and production of transfection grade plasmids.

Transfection and maintenance of mammalian cell lines (adherent and suspension) for protein expression and other assays.

Column purification of proteins (Affinity, ion exchange, and size exclusion chromatography).

Perform in vitro biochemical and biophysical characterizations of antibody candidates, including techniques like ELISA, Octet, DLS, SDS-PAGE, and Western blot.

Production of lentiviral based pseudovirus stocks and testing of antibodies in neutralization assays.

Careful and thorough recording of experimental data using an electronic lab notebook.

Operate and perform basic maintenance of laboratory instruments.

Design and plan experiments to address the needs of research projects.

Work independently and collaboratively with other lab members as an integral part of a project team.

Qualifications

BS or MS with 2-4 years of working experience in molecular biology, protein biochemistry, or a related field.

Proficiency in molecular cloning, cell culture techniques, and protein purification is desired.

Ability to analyze and interpret experimental results and record methods and data.

Experience working with cell culture and using sterile technique.

Excellent written and communication skills for collaborating with team members and presenting data.

Adaptable to a fast-paced work environment and can efficiently prioritize tasks and manage time.
