Roads Crew Foreman
The Roads Crew Foreman serves as a working leader within the Road Department, providing lead direction and technical support to road maintenance crews while actively participating in a wide range of road maintenance, repair, and equipment operation activities. This position coordinates roadway and equipment repairs, ensures work is completed safely and efficiently, and monitors adherence to established policies, procedures, and quality standards. The Foreman assists the Roads Maintenance Supervisor with reporting, documentation, and daily operational oversight, and may act on behalf of the Supervisor in their absence. Working independently on both routine and complex assignments, the incumbent utilizes extensive knowledge and experience to operate specialized road maintenance equipment, oversee crew activities, and support the maintenance and improvement of county roads and facilities.Note: Open to Current Clallam County Employees Only Typical Duties
Assist Roads Maintenance Supervisor in planning daily, weekly, monthly and yearly road programs for maintenance and construction projects Participate with the Roads Maintenance Supervisor in coordination of work crews in the maintenance and construction of roads and related facilities; assure that crews have necessary equipment for assigned dutiesInspect roads and drainage ways to identify maintenance needs inspect work product of independent contractors to assure it meets County standards Perform minor repairs on assigned equipment; identify and report needs for major repairs Establish job site ensuring the use of basic safety rules, appropriate equipment and proper work techniques; assure the efficient and effective utilization of departmental personnel, funds, materials, facilities and timeRespond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within scope of knowledge and authority and when necessary refer to Roads Maintenance Supervisor Complete and maintain a variety of contracts, reports, records and forms including time and equipment records and work orders Assist in the instruction and training of less experienced maintenance personnel on the operation of equipment and proper road maintenance techniquesAdminister vegetation management program; assist employees in the application of chemicals and in the coordination of mowing and brushing; record and document all spraying activities and use of chemicals; advise landowners of spraying activities; when necessary and in the absence of the Roads Maintenance Supervisor, handle complaints and public concernsMaintain inventory of equipment and supplies required for assigned maintenance projects; estimate time, materials and equipment required for assigned jobs; requisition materials as required Advise Roads Maintenance Supervisor of any job performance deficiencies, or disciplinary problems; make recommendations if neededEnsure adherence to safe work practices and procedures Proficiently operate equipment required of Maintenance Workers I, II, and III as needed Perform the duties and activities of other Maintenance Worker classifications as necessary Install, maintain or monitor Best Management Practices related to Federal, State and local water, habitat, and air quality standardsEducation, Training,&Experience
Requires knowledge of the field of assignment sufficient to perform thoroughly and accurately the full scope of responsibility as illustrated by examples in the above job description. 0-48 months = 8 hours per month 49-108 months = 10 hours per month 109-168 months = 12 hours per month 169-204 months = 14 hours per month Over 204 months = 16.67 hours per month
Sick Leave: Full-time employees accrue sick leave at the rate of 8 hours per month. Eligibility for use of sick leave is established after one month of continuous employment. Part-time employee's benefit contributions and leave accruals are prorated.
