Established criminal defense firm seeking a motivated associate attorney to handle a high-volume misdemeanor caseload and assist in serious felony matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for a newer attorney to gain substantial courtroom experience, develop litigation skills, and work closely with experienced counsel on complex cases.
This is an entry level position.
Responsibilities
Independently but with supervision and assistance when needed, manage a caseload of misdemeanor criminal matters from arraignment through resolution (including DUIs, domestic violence, theft, assault, and other gross misdemeanors)
Represent clients in court proceedings, including arraignments, pretrial hearings, motions, negotiations, and trials
Handle juvenile court matters, including detention hearings, adjudications, and disposition hearings
Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, and memoranda
Negotiate with prosecutors and advocate for favorable outcomes for clients
Maintain consistent communication with clients regarding case status and strategy
Assist lead counsel with felony cases, including case preparation, investigation, motion practice, and trial support
Manage case files, deadlines, and court compliance requirements
