Summary
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the senior management team and is responsible for the overall financial strategy, stability, and stewardship of Morrill County Community Hospital.
The CFO ensures sound financial management, regulatory compliance, and long-term sustainability while supporting the hospital's mission to deliver high-quality care to our rural community.
The CFOplays a vital role in optimizing cost-based reimbursement, strengthening revenue cycle performance, and guiding strategic growth initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Other duties may be assigned.
Provide strategic financial leadership and long-term fiscal planning.
Oversee all financial operations including accounting, budgeting, payroll, revenue cycle, patient financial services, and financial reporting.
Ensure compliance with CMS regulations specific to Critical Access Hospitals and cost-based reimbursement requirements.
Prepare and present financial reports to the CEO and Board of Directors.
Lead annual budget development and ongoing financial forecasting.
Monitor cash flow, capital expenditures, and financial risk management.
Oversee audits, cost reports, and regulatory filings.
Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and financial improvement.
Collaborate with department leaders to align financial goals with operational strategy.
Support grant funding opportunities and rural healthcare financial programs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
CPA, MBA, or master's degree in finance or healthcare administration (preferred)
Minimum 3 years of progressive healthcare finance leadership experience
Prior experience in a Critical Access Hospital or rural healthcare setting strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of Medicare cost reporting, reimbursement models, and rural health funding
Demonstrated experience in revenue cycle optimization and financial strategy
