CNC Technical Group Lead - 2nd Shift
The Technical Group Lead is responsible for overseeing daily machining operations, ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and leading a team of machinists and operators. This role combines hands-on machining expertise with leadership responsibilities to meet production goals safely and effectively.A Day In The Life Provide leadership and line management to the work cell crew Assist in coordinating workloads, providing support, monitoring issues, ensuring production targets, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and quality standards are met for the work cell Aid in ensuring people and resources is applied in an efficient and effective manner, so that the team follows defined standard work procedures while achieving quality and safety standardsReinforce and lead by example full adherence to 6S (Safety, Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) practices Lead, train, and support CNC machinists and operators on shift Set up, program, and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or multi-axis equipment) Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actionsEnsure parts meet specifications using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc.) Interpret blueprints, GD&T, and technical drawings Optimize cycle times, tooling, and machining processes for efficiency Monitor tool wear, offsets, and machine performance Support work order closures and stock control transactions Assist in performing root cause analysis and resolving problems in work cell, keeping management fully communicated throughout the processBeing a committed participant in undertaking requires continuous training and development, during the timeline expected and as required for the position Assist management in routine performance, quality, safety, and attendance corrective actions with employees in your work cell Required to communicate and maintain your work cell's production metrics and information and at times communicate results to various levels of organization in both formal and informal settingsAssist in monitoring time and attendance and ensure compliance with policy Assist in carrying out incidents, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure Interface is required with Production Scheduling to determine schedules for shift production Audit Operator PMs on cell equipmentAdhere to work rules and attendance policies, including punctuality requirements and mandatory overtime Technical skills required by the department Other duties as assigned What will help you thrive in this role? One year of machining experience is preferred Strong knowledge of CNC programming (G-code; CAM software experience a plus)Experience with multi-axis machining (3, 4, or 5-axis preferred) Proficient in reading blueprints and GD&T Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills General understanding of Microsoft Applications Basic knowledge of SAP preferred Ability to participate and lead in a team-oriented environment Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, employees, or visitors Basic mechanical and math skillsPositive attitude, strong interpersonal skills with ability to develop leadership skills that bring teams together Hubbell Incorporated Hubbell creates critical infrastructure solutions that power our customers, communities, people and the planet.
