About Us:
The Fooksman laboratory is interested in various aspects of normal and malignant plasma cell physiology. Plasma cells are terminally-differentiated B cells that secrete antibody, constitutively. These cells are produced following vaccination or exposures to infection and produce antibody that specifically targets and neutralizes these foreign agents. Plasma cells can survive for decades in the body, particularly those that migrate to the bone marrow. By surviving and producing antibody, these cells can provide long-term immune memory against secondary infections. These cells are critical for healthy immune function and the essential end product for vaccines. Therefore, we are interested in how these cells develop, migrate, survive and function.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The person will:

Perform a moderate number of simple or moderate technical procedures;maintaining a mouse colony

Mouse handling

genotyping mice

Occasionally be responsible for ordering routine supplies;

Rarely modify technical procedures;

A simple / limited understanding of scientific literature and the research goals and rationale is required;

Occasionally analyze data;

Rarely interpret data;

Rarely make written contributions to papers and grant proposals.*

Helping with lab organization, cleanup, making stocks, autoclaving, training new members.  

Potential to do experiments and have a project on the side

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required to have a Bacehlor's in Science degree in Biology or in a related science or equivalent skills and related experience, and zero to two years of related experience.

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the hourly rates for this are listed below. This rate is based on the 1199 bargaining unit contract.

Maximum Salary Range:
