Job Title: Senior Architect– Project Architect

Job Description

This role offers an experienced architect the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of complex architectural projects from schematic design through construction administration in a collaborative, design‑driven studio. You will serve as a key technical and project leader, owning the development of construction documentation, coordinating closely with internal teams and consultants, and ensuring design intent translates into clear, buildable solutions. The position is ideal for a technically strong architect who enjoys mentoring junior staff, managing multiple concurrent projects, and contributing to a vibrant studio culture focused on performance arts, media, broadcast, cultural, and real estate development work.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of comprehensive construction documentation sets across multiple project phases, from schematic design through construction administration.

Translate design intent into clear, accurate, and buildable documents, drawings, and details that support high-quality project delivery.

Prepare, revise, and manage drawing sets, technical details, and specifications while serving as a key technical resource for the project team.

Coordinate closely with project managers, principals, and consultants to ensure project goals, schedules, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.

Participate in and lead consultant coordination efforts, including structural, MEP, and specialty disciplines, to ensure fully integrated design solutions.

Oversee zoning and code compliance, including NYC Building Code, ADA, and zoning requirements, and manage agency submissions and filing processes.

Respond to RFIs, submittals, and field issues during construction administration, providing timely and technically sound solutions.

Maintain consistency, organization, and accuracy across all project deliverables, ensuring documentation standards and best practices are followed.

Independently lead projects from concept design through construction administration with limited principal oversight, managing day‑to‑day project activities.

Serve as the primary day‑to‑day client contact, representing the firm in meetings with clients, consultants, contractors, and agencies.

Manage multiple concurrent projects, including schedules, staffing, and consultant coordination, while balancing priorities and deadlines.

Produce and oversee complex drawing sets with minimal supervision, ensuring clarity, constructability, and alignment with design intent.

Mentor and manage junior staff, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their professional growth and strengthen team collaboration.

Contribute to design development for cultural, theater, performing arts, museum, and exhibit projects, bringing strong design sensibility to the work.

Support budgeting and project management tasks, including tracking progress, aligning with project budgets, and reporting to leadership as needed.

Collaborate in a studio environment that encourages open idea sharing, constructive critique, and collective problem‑solving.

Help cultivate and maintain long‑term client relationships and support future business opportunities for the firm.

Minimum of 7+ years of post‑graduate professional experience in an architecture office.

Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.

Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD, with the ability to produce and manage complex drawing sets.

Proficiency with architectural design and CAD workflows, including design development and construction documentation.

Experience managing construction documents, construction drawings, and construction documentation for complex projects.

Proven project management skills, including scheduling, budgeting support, and coordination of multiple stakeholders.

Experience managing and mentoring junior staff, including task delegation, quality review, and professional development support.

Strong design skills with experience in cultural, theater, performing arts, museum, or exhibit projects.

Excellent organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail.

Familiarity with building systems and the ability to coordinate effectively with multiple consultant disciplines.

Reliable, focused, creative, detail‑oriented, and proactive working style.

Comfort working as the primary point of contact for clients, consultants, contractors, and agencies.

Sense of humor and a collaborative, positive attitude that contributes to a supportive studio culture.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small, open‑plan studio located in a vibrant Soho neighborhood, offering a collaborative, design‑driven environment with close one‑on‑one interaction and mentorship.
