Job Description
This role focuses on preparing power distribution equipment and related components for painting, primarily serving the data center industry. You will handle hands-on prep work such as grinding, sanding, and washing parts so they are ready for the paint process, contributing directly to the quality and reliability of critical industrial equipment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare power distribution equipment and parts for painting in an industrial production environment.
- Perform grinding, sanding, and washing of metal components to ensure surfaces are clean and properly conditioned for paint.
- Inspect parts before and after prep work to confirm they meet required standards for cleanliness and surface finish.
- Handle general paint prep tasks in a paint shop setting, including organizing parts, staging work, and supporting the painter.
- Use industrial tools and equipment such as grinders, sanders, and washing stations safely and efficiently.
- Support sandblasting or similar surface-preparation activities as needed in the production process.
- Follow established safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and support on-time delivery.
- Adapt to varying workloads, including working overtime when required to meet project deadlines.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on experience with grinding and sanding in an industrial, construction, or job shop environment.
- Ability to perform physical, labor-intensive tasks such as lifting, standing for extended periods, and operating hand and power tools.
- Familiarity with industrial paint preparation processes, including washing and surface cleaning.
- Comfort working in a production or paint shop setting with metal parts and power distribution equipment.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure parts are thoroughly prepped and ready for painting.
- Commitment to safety and cleanliness in the workplace.
- Reliability and willingness to work a second-shift schedule with regular overtime.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in construction or job shop work, providing experience with physical labor and industrial tools.
- Experience in an industrial paint shop, sandblasting, or similar surface-preparation role.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to learn additional processes related to equipment refurbishment.

Work Environment
This is a second-shift position, typically working from 2:30 p.m. to 11:30 a.m. with an average of about 10 hours of overtime per week. The role is based in an industrial facility focused on refurbishing power distribution equipment, including a paint shop and production areas. The building is not fully climate controlled; during the summer months, portable air conditioning units help improve comfort, but temperatures may still vary. The environment emphasizes safety and cleanliness, with clear standards for maintaining an organized work area and using tools and equipment properly.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livingston, TX.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $20.00/hr.
