Overview / Job Description
A large enterprise organization is seeking a
Segment Controller
to lead financial operations for a key business unit.
This individual will oversee all accounting, reporting, and financial planning activities for the segment while partnering closely with operational leadership to drive business performance.

The Segment Controller will act as a key advisor to leadership, ensuring accurate financials and providing insights to guide decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Own
monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
for the business segment
Prepare and analyze
financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow)
Lead
budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
cycles
Partner with business leaders to support
strategic decision-making and operational improvements
Ensure compliance with
GAAP, internal controls, and audit requirements (SOX if applicable)
Identify and mitigate financial risks while driving
process improvements and efficiencies
Oversee
general ledger activity, reconciliations, and reporting packages
Monitor
segment performance metrics
and provide actionable recommendations
Support
working capital management
including inventory, AR/AP, and cash flow
Mentor and lead accounting/finance team members
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
8–12+ years of experience in
accounting, corporate finance, or controllership
Strong knowledge of
GAAP and financial reporting
Experience with
month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Proficiency with
ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, etc.)
and advanced Excel
Ability to
partner with cross-functional teams and influence leadership decisions
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Plusses
CPA certification
Experience supporting a
business unit or division (P&L ownership)
Background in
manufacturing, technology, or large enterprise environments
Experience with
SOX compliance and audit support
Familiarity with
BI tools (Power BI, Tableau)
