/ph3Description/h3pThe Port Operations Foreman is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of daily port activities, including cargo handling, equipment operation, and labor coordination.
This position ensures that all port operations are conducted safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
The Port Operations Foreman supervises operators, and dock laborers, coordinating with vessel crews, terminal management, and logistics teams to maintain smooth port operations.
/ppKey Responsibilities:/pulliLead and supervise all daily port operations, including loading and unloading cargo, material handling, and equipment use.
/liliCoordinate the work of crane operators, equipment operators, and dock crews to optimize productivity and safety.
/liliInspect and maintain port equipment, including cranes, forklifts, and other material handling systems.
/liliEnsure all cargo handling activities comply with company policies, OSHA regulations, and maritime safety standards.
/liliMonitor workflow and make operational adjustments to reduce downtime and improve efficiency.
/liliTrain, mentor, and evaluate labor crews on operational procedures and safety practices.
/liliCommunicate operational updates, challenges, and scheduling issues with vessel personnel, operations managers, and other stakeholders.
/liliMaintain accurate records of equipment usage, cargo movement, and safety inspections.
/liliPromote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and safety-first decision-making on all projects.
/liliAssist in troubleshooting minor operational or equipment issues to ensure smooth operations.
/li/ulpCrew Leadership and Administrative Duties:/pulliServe as the time leader for assigned crews, ensuring all employee hours are accurately tracked and approved.
/liliDevelop and manage crew schedules based on vessel arrivals, cargo types, and operational requirements.
/liliOversee payroll submissions for employees under their supervision, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
/liliCoordinate with the Operations Manager and HR team regarding staffing needs, attendance, and scheduling changes.
/liliMaintain organized records of timekeeping, attendance, and payroll documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
/li/ulpRequired Qualifications:/pulliHigh school diploma or equivalent (GED).
/liliMinimum of 3 years of experience in port operations, marine terminal, or logistics management.
/liliAt least 2 years of supervisory or lead experience managing crews in a port or terminal environment.
/liliStrong knowledge of port equipment, material handling, and cargo handling procedures.
/liliExcellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
/liliAbility to read and interpret operational plans, cargo manifests, and equipment documentation.
/liliFlexible availability to meet the demands of port schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
/li/ulpPreferred Qualifications:/pulliOSHA 30 certification.
/liliTWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential).
/liliCertifications in rigging, signaling, or crane operation.
/liliExperience with bulk materials, breakbulk cargo, or containerized cargo operations.
/liliBasic computer skills for reporting and communication tasks.
/li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks around port equipment and vessels.
/liliAbility to climb ladders, access docks, and work at heights as required.
/liliMust work outdoors in all weather conditions and around heavy machinery.
/liliPPE use required at all times, including hard hat, safety vest, gloves, and steel-toe boots.
/li/ulpAdditional Requirements:/pulliMust be authorized to work in the United States.

/li/ulpWork Environment:/pulliField-based role primarily at marine terminals and port facilities.
