Tooling Designer, Charlotte

Constellation Search Group is seeking a Tooling Designer for a full-time direct hire position. The Tooling Designer will manage tooling creation and design, as well as enhance existing designs for tools used in the manufacturing process. Collaborating with internal stakeholders, the role focuses on continuous improvement, ensuring a strong tooling program for Operations.

Responsibilities:

Design 2D / 3D extrusion tooling and CAD models for Toolroom use.

Utilize CAD software, such as AutoCAD, Solidworks, or Inventor.

Read and create blueprints per ASME Y14.5-2009 for Toolroom and production use.

Apply Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation software for die design assistance.

Initiate and file Tooling Introduction paperwork for Toolroom integration.

Construct BOMs for tool builds and procure necessary materials.

Analyze extrusion tool-related issues and recommend solutions.

Create models from existing drawings/sketches.

Use measuring tools, including calipers, micrometers, and comparators.

Maintain knowledge of drafting techniques and engineering terminology.

Adhere to proper housekeeping and safety standards, utilizing PPE as required.

Qualifications:

Degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering, or similar discipline.

3+ years of experience with CAD or AutoCAD software.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Knowledge of AS-400 is preferred.

Prior experience with CFD simulation software is advantageous.

Extrusion knowledge is a plus.
