Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Location: East Aurora, NY

Job Type: FTE/Permanent

Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for preparing detailed manufacturing instructions and programming data to produce machined parts and sub-assemblies according to engineering drawings and specifications. This role will determine manufacturing procedures, operation sequencing, and establish tooling, gauging, and machine requirements to fabricate parts and sub-assemblies for various products.

Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed operation sheets and N/C programs, estimate setup and run hours for production parts, and estimate design and build hours for tooling.

Assist in preparing cost estimates for new proposals.

Spend time in the production shops solving problems and improving processes related to assigned parts.

Support the efficient processing of parts by generating operation sheets and manufacturing procedures for assigned parts.

Ensure compatibility of engineering drawings and specifications with manufacturing capabilities by reviewing drawings and suggesting changes or revisions to enhance producibility.

Provide accurate and usable N/C programming tapes by converting N/C program outlines into specific coded machine instructions and assist machine operators with program prove-out.

Coordinate with various departments and team members to ensure the most effective use of manufacturing facilities and processes.

Establish standard times for setup and run operations on assigned parts.

Initiate and/or conduct studies for more efficient manufacturing of parts, including recommending changes in equipment, methods, materials, and designs.

Follow up on jobs during the initial stage of manufacturing to ensure proper processing and make revisions to tooling and processes as necessary.

Work with the Manufacturing Engineering Group Leader to resolve processing details for more complex parts.

Prepare rework operation sheets for salvage of discrepant parts and follow through with corrective actions.

Establish tooling, gaging, and fixture concepts, review and approve tool, gaging, and fixture design drawings.

Estimate hours required to design and fabricate tools and fixtures.

Coordinate with vendors for operations sheets containing external and internal operations.

Aid in producing N/C programs and assist in cost estimating efforts for new proposals.

May technically guide or train Associate Manufacturing Engineers.

Ensure the practice and acceptance of fundamental safety principles by employees and management.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree, or

Associate's degree and a minimum of 6 years relevant professional experience, or

High School diploma and a minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience

3+ years' experience with grinding ID/OD

Experience in close tolerance work, working to .0005 or less

Hands-on experience setting up and operating machines

Excellent communication and documentation skills to work effectively with various teams.
