Description
PGS Worldwide seeks a motivated Field Service Technician in Norfolk, VA., to support the installation, testing, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems used in advanced defense platforms. This role is critical in supporting U.S. Navy weapons systems and requires a hands-on, detail-oriented technician with strong problem-solving skills and a passion for national defense. This is an initial 12-month contract-to-hire opportunity, and I will respond immediately to all qualified candidates.
Job Description:
Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic components and systems in field environments.
Support engineering teams in system development and provide technical feedback during design phases.
Conduct and coordinate experiments and tests, including setup and operation of test equipment and preliminary data analysis.
Assist in the creation of technical documentation, including schematics, part lists, and system reports.
Respond to emergency service calls from customers and field personnel; prepare and manage inventory of tools and parts for deployment.
Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and company policies.
Participate in continuous learning and professional development in collaboration with your supervisor.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
US Citizenship
Minimum of 2 years of vocational or mechanical training and at least 2 years of related work experience (or equivalent combination).
Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and repair standards.
Experience using electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic tools and instrumentation.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong time management and multitasking abilities.
Familiarity with IPC J-Standard and IPC/WHMA-A-620 preferred (certification a plus).
Desired:
Previous work on U.S. Navy weapon systems such as MK-38, MK-41, MK-45, or MK-110.
Experience or coursework related to ordnance systems or defense platforms.
Background in the aerospace or defense industry.
