Campaigners organize bold, exciting, attention-grabbing protests and demonstrations, exposing the true conditions that animals endure and ensuring their stories are in the headlines to accelerate change for animals through PETA’s innovative campaigns. Campaigners travel extensively, leading and participating in strategic, visually striking, immersive, and newsworthy protests; serve as spokespeople for PETA in media interviews, bringing the call for total animal liberation to the masses; and join forces with passionate animal defenders across the country to build an unstoppable movement.

This remote position achieves real change for animals. PETA covers all travel, lodging, and a meal allowance while Campaigners are on the road. Position Objective To manage PETA's many cutting‑edge demonstrations and protests, act as a media spokesperson, and work with activists across the country to bring attention to animal liberation issues

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Develop and manage bold, creative, cutting‑edge, and provocative tactics and campaigns against companies and industries that spotlight animal suffering and exploitation

Travel extensively to organize and attend immersive protest actions worldwide

When not traveling, Campaigners handle all planning aspects of demonstrations, developing strategic plans and strong preparation for smooth action on the ground

Brainstorm creative ways to educate the public about animal liberation

Track and analyze the success of demonstrations and media events and strategize accordingly

Act as a PETA spokesperson and conduct interviews with local and national television outlets, radio stations, newspapers, and magazines

Maintain relationships with local activists and help them develop the skills they need to speak out for animals

Liaise cooperatively with internal departments to create props and displays, manage travel, supply shipments, write sound bites, produce viral social media, and more to create provocative materials that further animal liberation, enhance and support campaign work, and push companies to change

Work with PETA's international entities in Europe, India, and the Asia‑Pacific region to generate international support for animal rights campaigns

Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor

Requirements

Degree in a related field or equivalent experience

Minimum of three years of grassroots activism experience

Previous public speaking experience

Proven thorough knowledge of animal liberation issues and PETA campaigns

Proven desire and willingness to participate in provocative campaigns

Proven excellent project management, strategic thinking, time management, and analytical skills

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

Proven ability to use Microsoft Office programs like Outlook, Word, and Excel

Proven ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines

Professional appearance and adherence to a healthy vegan lifestyle

Ability and willingness to conduct 80% travel‑based work

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis

Must be at least 21 years of age and have a valid U.S. driver's license, a minimum of three years of driving experience, and a satisfactory driving record

Support for PETA's philosophy and the ability to professionally advocate PETA's positions on issues

Commitment to the objectives of the organization

The salary range for this position is $48, - $80, annually. The ultimate salary within this range that will be offered to a qualified candidate will be determined based on the candidate’s experience and the cost of living in the area in which the candidate will live and work.
