Accounting Technician
Onsite
Duration: 6 Months Contract (possibility of extension)
Location: Hampton, VA / Norfolk, VA
Pay rate: Hourly, depending on experience
Responsibilities:
Performs a variety of accounting clerical duties involved in maintaining projects and grants records, reimbursements, reconciliations, verifying financial activity, and preparing periodic reports.
Essential Job Functions:
Maintains and updates computerized project and grant records.
Enters invoice information to create project invoice proposals for reimbursements.
Reviews invoices and payment records for reimbursements; ensures project postings match invoices; prepares
Reconciles expenses and project postings.
Enters data into projects and grants systems.
Verifies calculation of project expense information.
Tracks reimbursements to ensure timely payment and recording.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Basic knowledge of accounting methods and processes as they relate to revenue accounting.
Practical knowledge of computerized accounting systems.
Ability to enter data into accounting records accurately.
Ability to review and consolidate large volumes of data into a logical, consistent format.
Required Software Knowledge and Skills:
Proficiency in using computer systems and software applications associated with assigned work is essential.
Basic problem-solving skills related to software applications are expected.
Software usage relevant to job duties will be evaluated.
Software Applications:
D365, Outlook, Microsoft Office Suite
Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or GED certificate.
Accounting or bookkeeping courses preferred.
Experience: One year of experience in accounting clerical work, data entry, or related experience.
One year of experience using commercial word processing and spreadsheet software packages.
