Production Labor / Rail Car Unloader

This is a hands-on, active role perfect for candidates who enjoy physical work, learning new equipment, and working in a fast-paced industrial setting.
No rail experience required full training provided.
What You'll Do
Unload cement rail cars safely using pneumatic and mechanical equipment
Hook/unhook rail cars and prepare them for unloading
Use a 50-lb industrial vibrator unit to assist material flow
Start/stop unloading systems and monitor operations through a computer interface
Attach pneumatic "boots" to rail cars and secure them with a locking lever
Monitor silo flow and ensure material moves properly through the system
Unload 45 rail cars per day (approx. 2.5 hours per car)
Collect cement samples while following strict containment procedures
Perform general housekeeping: sweeping, mopping, and keeping the work area clean
Climb 23 flights of stairs and work comfortably at heights
Follow all plant safety procedures and wear required PPE
What Makes You a Great Fit
Able to lift 50 lbs
Comfortable working at heights and climbing stairs
Basic computer skills for system monitoring
Strong attention to detail and safety
Reliable and willing to work mandatory overtime
Preferred (Not Required)
Experience loading/unloading trucks or railcars
General labor, warehouse, or production experience
Comfortable with heavy lifting and physical work

Work Environment
This is an active industrial role with exposure to:
Moving mechanical equipment
Outdoor weather (heat, cold, humidity, rain)
Elevated noise levels
Dust and material flow systems
PPE is provided and required to ensure a safe work environment.
Job Type & Location: This is a Contract position based out of Norfolk, VA.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $***** - $*****/hr.
