Grounds Maintenance Worker, Elizabeth City

Job Title

The purpose of this job is to perform semi-skilled work in a variety of grounds maintenance assignments, operating specialized equipment and other work as required. This position works under close supervision according to set procedures. Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

Inspects and maintains playground equipment, benches, and tables. Maintains park lawns and landscaping; mows, edges, and trims grass; prunes trees and shrubs. Maintains and services equipment. Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Performs light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all of the time and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or skill, adeptness and speed in the use of the fingers, hands or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.Involves routine and frequent exposure to: Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen. Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions. Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife. Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors. Traffic; Moving machinery. Education and Experience&Special Requirements

Requires High School diploma or GED equivalent and six (6) months of experience providing grounds maintenance, landscaping and/or operating small engine equipment and providing minor repairs or closely related experience.
