Job Summary:
The Test Engineer role is a key position with responsibility for defining and executing test procedures for the purpose of validating and improving product behavior and reliability. This role encompasses feature validation, bug fix verification, identifying, reporting, and potentially triaging problems, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
Core Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and execute sophisticated test cases and procedures to validate intricate product features and functionality
Independently identify, document, and articulate bugs or defects with precision and reproducibility
Lead collaboration across cross-functional teams to define and achieve comprehensive test coverage aligned with product strategy
Drive validation of new product features, ensuring adherence to design specifications and user requirements
Perform rigorous functional, regression, and exploratory testing, integrating automation where applicable
Lead triaging and root cause analysis of complex issues, prioritizing resolutions effectively
Innovate and implement enhancements to testing methodologies, tools, and workflows, enhancing overall quality
Maintain meticulous documentation of test plans, results, and known issues, ensuring clarity and accessibility
Utilize advanced testing tools and software to optimize team efficiency and adapt to evolving frameworks
Requirements
Core Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Basic understanding of software testing principles, methodologies, and processes
Familiarity with defect tracking tools and test management software
Ability to write clear and concise test cases and documentation
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication and collaboration skills within a cross-functional team environment
Eagerness to learn new technologies, tools, and processes related to software testing
Basic knowledge of programming or scripting languages is a plus
Familiarity with automation tools or willingness to learn is a bonus
Detail-oriented with a commitment to ensuring product quality
Experienced-Based Qualifications:
6–10 years of experience in software testing or a related role, with demonstrated leadership in testing and quality assurance initiatives
Proficiency in designing, implementing, and optimizing automated testing frameworks and test suites
Advanced experience with automation tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress) and integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines
Strong expertise in API testing and automation, with hands-on experience using tools like Postman, SoapUI, or REST-assured
Proven ability to mentor and guide junior and mid-level testers, promoting technical growth and best practices
Demonstrated success in leading testing efforts for complex projects, including functional, regression, and performance testing
Experience identifying process inefficiencies and implementing solutions to improve testing effectiveness and product quality
Preferred Qualifications:
Certifications in software testing or quality assurance (e.g., ISTQB Advanced Level, Certified Software Test Professional)
Advanced programming skills in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, Java) for test automation
Familiarity with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and analyzing performance bottlenecks
Proven experience in performance testing for enterprise systems using tools like JMeter or LoadRunner
