Job Summary The Part time Librarian is a part-time, non-benefited position that supports student learning and success through a multifaceted role that integrates reference services, resource management, and professional collaboration. Employing student-centered and innovative teaching practices, the librarian delivers reference services that foster critical thinking and interdisciplinary engagement. This role ensures access to quality resources as well as maintenance of digital systems and instructional technologies to support teaching and learning, ensuring content is current and effective. Professionalism and collaboration are integral, with active participation in institutional initiatives, professional development, and contributions to the library's strategic goals.
Compensation: $22.65/hour.

This position may also work on a variety of projects related to the following: Provides reference and instruction services by employing high-impact teaching practices in a learning environment that promotes respect and rapport.Manages and contributes to the library's social media presence by creating engaging content, promoting services and events, and analyzing engagement metrics to support outreach and student engagement. Collaborates with library colleagues to develop curriculum incorporating information literacy by articulating measurable, student-centered learning outcomes, and using competency-based design strategy to maintain curriculum that is current, effective, and relevant to the designated discipline.Supports the curricular goals of courses, programs, and pathways by selecting affordable and quality learning materials and continually evaluating collections. Maintains commitment to professionalism by embodying the values, ethics, and behavior codes of LCCC and one's discipline and by participating in professional development.Demonstrates social competence and effective communication in public, professional, and academic venues. PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: There may be occurrences of interacting with employees and/or students, past employees and/or students, members of the general public, and others who express opinions, may exhibit strong emotions, which will require the employee to interact professionally, diplomatically, and appropriately in such situationsWhile performing the essential duties of this position, an employee would frequently be required to move around the assigned work areas as well as within hallways, meeting rooms, and other parts of the campus facilities There may be multiple/daily instances of prolonged sitting, standing, and personal computer use, which would include keyboard and/or mouse usage as well as viewing a computer monitorAn employee must be able lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus The overall work environment requires the mental ability to shift focal point quickly due to interruptions; an employee must be able to mentally track multiple projects and tasking as wellThe noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; however, there may be instances of somewhat loud environments. The physical demands and work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform essential functions of this position and/or may be encountered while performing essential functions. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Education and Experience Requirements Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree in library and information studies from an ALA accredited institution *In lieu of the required degree, candidates with equivalent professional experience, industry certifications, or a combination of education and relevant work experience may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two years of professional experience working in library setting.
