WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Systems Engineer (SysE) reports to the SAVT Senior Systems Engineer and assists in the design, development, documentation, testing, deployment and support of the SAVT system. The SysE performs high-level systems analysis, evaluation, design, integration, documentation, and implementation of a complex system of systems virtual trainer that requires broad knowledge and expertise across technical disciplines.

  • Traditional systems engineering functions including:
    • requirements identification, analysis, de-composition, mapping and tracking.
    • Creation of flowcharts and other documentation to identify requirements for software and to propose possible solutions.
    • Cross-functional team participation in integration, verification and validation efforts for products and sub-systems
  • System HW and SW support to include the following:
    • Installation and configuration of HW and SW components to ensure usability.
    • Troubleshooting HW and SW issues.
    • Repairing or replacing damaged hardware.
    • Installation and upgrades of anti-virus software to ensure security at the user level.
    • Performing tests and evaluations on new software and hardware.
    • Ensuring proper operation system networking.
    • Perform software backup and deployment of system software.
    • Performs maintenance procedures for software systems.
    • Create project documentation and abide by documentation standards.
    • Provides technical support to operators of deployed system.
    • Audits new and existing information systems applications to ensure that appropriate controls exist, that processing is efficient and accurate, and that systems procedures are in compliance with Government standards
  • Assists with coordination and planning of interoperability events
  • Other related duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Adheres to strict CMMI quality procedures to ensure first time quality in delivered products.
  • Creates project documentation and abide by documentation standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related field required
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in integrated systems development programs.
  • Good working knowledge of both Windows and Linux Operating Systems
  • Proficient English grammar skills. Ability to outline, write, and edit technical papers.
  • Proficient knowledge of information systems (hardware/software)
  • Software installation and troubleshooting experience
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Products such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to easily adapt to new software/enterprise tools.
  • Holds a current minimum DOD Secret security clearance or ability to obtain one
  • Due to the nature of work performed, U.S. citizenship is required

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Proficient with development methodologies including Agile and Waterfall
  • Experience developing and testing Military M&S systems (ideally SAVT)
  • Experience working with Live, Virtual or Constructive military simulation
  • Previous military / USMC experience
  • Experience writing Scripts using Window PowerShell
  • Knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems such as Postgres, MySQL, SQL Server, and/or Oracle
  • Proficient using a source code repository such as Subversion or GIT.
  • Proficient using a defect management system such as JIRA or Bugzilla
  • Experience using an IDE such as Microsoft Visual Studio or Eclipse
  • A working knowledge of Distributed Simulation (High Level Architecture (HLA) and/or Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS))
  • Experience working with Mission Command (MC) systems integration
