Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 13,000 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan.
The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th 12th grade campuses.
The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The Safety Officer will report to the Educational Safety Specialist (ESS), Executive and/or Director of Crisis Intervention and Safety and/or Chief of Operations, Safety and the building principal of the assigned school.
During the 84 day contract the position will require working at various locations throughout the district, as needed.
Responsibilities include supervising hallways during the workday, reporting any violation of building rules, completing necessary reports, providing assigned building and grounds security and supervision necessary for the effective operation of the educational program, seeing to it that employees park correctly, being on the lookout for burglars and car tampering, preventing vandalism of cars, circulating throughout the halls and checking washrooms hourly, being on the lookout for drugs, alcohol or any illegal substance, observing incidents so that reports can be made, reporting the following immediately to the building ESS, Director of Crisis Intervention and Safety and/or Deputy Superintendent of Operations, Safety and Facilities for fights, drugs, threats, extortion, trespassers that refuse to leave, arguments, vandalism and other related issues, making ID's for students, keeping the students orderly and being aware of possible food fights, and responsible for assisting the staff in situations, which require one-on-one attention of an emergency nature.
Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent; ability to pass the paraprofessional basic skills test administered in the Human Resources Office, **** N. Sheridan Road, Waukegan, IL *****.
Salary: Per Paraprofessional contract.
Additional Information: 8 hours per day/40 hours per week.
(84 day temporary/itinerant position).
There is no guarantee that a permanent assignment will be provided following the 84 day contract.
