Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Naperville, IL

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or working eligibility in the state Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in school environments Strong understanding of various communication modes, including American Sign Language, oral/aural approaches, and total communicationComfortable traveling between multiple school sites as an itinerant instructor Excellent organizational, communication, and advocacy skills Ability to partner with teachers, administrators, and family members to create inclusive learning experiences Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials as needed Assess student needs and develop individualized education plans (IEPs) Monitor and document student progress, communicating regularly with educational teams and parents Collaborate with general education teachers to foster accessible and inclusive classroom environmentsEducate school staff on best practices and effective strategies for students with hearing impairments Advocate for accessible learning opportunities, classroom accommodations, and assistive technology
