Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH) in Plainfield, IL

Make a difference this school year as a dedicated Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher supporting students in a dynamic, inclusive educational environment. This full-time, itinerant contract role focuses on empowering students with diverse hearing abilities to achieve their highest potential while collaborating with multiple school teams.

Key Qualifications:

Valid certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing Experience developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for students with hearing loss Strong understanding of assistive technologies and accommodations for Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) studentsProficient in American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication methods used by DHH populations Ability to travel between schools and provide both direct and consultative services Excellent interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills Primary Responsibilities:

Provide direct instruction and support for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in various educational settings Develop, review, and adapt IEP goals to meet students' unique communication, academic, and social-emotional needs Consult regularly with general and special education staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and best practices are implementedGuide families and caregivers on strategies and resources to support student progress at home and in the community Monitor student progress, gather assessment data, and report outcomes in compliance with district and state guidelines Foster a positive, accessible learning atmosphere for every studentBenefits and Perks:
