Location: Alice Terry Elementary Work Year: 185 days Work Status: Full Time, Exempt Reports To: Building Principal Position Summary: Alice Terry Elementary is seeking a paraprofessional who has experience working with second language learners. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Co-planning, delivering, and reflecting upon daily lesson plans with classroom teacher.Assists in the supervision and activities for students. Monitors and assists with child behavior management. Monitors students in non-classroom settings, and assists with everyday situations. Attend various meetings as needed. Other duties as directed. Supervisory Duties: None Position Requirements:Required High School diploma or G.E.D. Must also meet NCLB requirements by having one of the following: At least 48 credit hours completed at an institute of higher education; OR An Associate's (or higher) degree; OR Must be able to demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment, knowledge of and the ability to assist in reading, writing, and math. Testing is administered through the School District.Preferred Experience using computers, word processing programs and general office equipment. One to three years of experience as an elementary paraprofessional highly desired. Experience working with Special Education students preferred. Bilingual Spanish/English desirable. General Expectations:Is flexible and adaptable to change Has the ability to work collaboratively with supervisors and co-workers Maintains a positive attitude Observes all district policies and procedures Supports the Sheridan School District Strategic Plan Supports school mission and vision Essential Physical Requirements:The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions required the following physical demands: some lifting up to 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling: and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in generally a clean and healthy environment. Mostly clean; some noise; interactions with students in a general education classroom setting. Occasional lifting 5 to 50 pounds (some positions require the lifting of students), frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling and occasional sitting, reaching, stooping, and squatting.Clearances: Must clear background check through an online Records check and FBI Fingerprint check through Colorado Bureau of Investigation. Salary: $18.37 - $23.69/hour Benefits: Employees who are scheduled to work 30 or more hours per week are eligible to obtain district health benefits which include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and supplemental benefits. Positions that qualify for health benefits also qualify for leave which could include vacation and daily leave to be determined by the position and number of days assigned. Sheridan School District No. 2 is a public employer and participates in the Colorado Public Employees' Retirement Association (PERA). All employees are required by state statute to contribute 11% of salary on a pre-tax basis to PERA and the District contributes 21% in addition to employee contribution.Application Instructions: All interested and qualified applicants must complete an online application at .
