Read blueprints, welding symbols, and fabrication drawings to confirm weld size, joint type, and sequence, and build to customer and engineering specifications.Lay out, position, and square parts using measuring tools (calipers, combination squares, straightedges, and rulers) and hold alignment with clamps, fixtures, and jigs to keep assemblies in tolerance. Perform all-position welding (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead) based on the job, maintaining consistent bead profile, penetration, and overall weld quality.Inspect your work before and after welding using visual checks and basic inspection tools, and complete routine care on welding equipment (guns, leads, power sources, wire feeders, and grinders) to reduce downtime.
